Grenada citizenship at a glance
Two investment routes, extended family options and a distinct treaty connection to the United States.
An approved project investment, with a separate USD 50,000 government contribution and other charges.
A spouse and qualifying children, parents, grandparents or siblings may be considered, subject to the applicable dependency rules.
Grenadian nationality may support a separate E-2 application. US business investment, domicile and visa requirements still apply.
Grenada citizenship investment options
Compare a contribution with an ownership route. Neither starting figure represents the complete application cost.
A non-refundable contribution supporting national development. This route avoids the ownership and resale responsibilities of a property investment.
- USD 235,000 starting contribution
- Base figure covers an individual or a qualifying family of up to four
- Siblings and parents or grandparents aged 55 or under carry special charges
- Further dependants increase the contribution
- Application, screening, processing and interview charges are additional
Invest in a qualifying government-approved project. Review the investment structure, developer, contract and exit conditions before choosing a property.
- USD 270,000 entry point applies to qualifying approved investments
- A USD 350,000 threshold applies to other qualifying property arrangements
- Separate government contribution starts at USD 50,000
- Published investment holding period: five years
- Include legal, ownership and programme costs in the budget
- Returns, resale proceeds and buyer availability are not guaranteed
A Caribbean base with international connections
Grenada’s islands offer a Caribbean setting for families considering a second nationality. The programme combines a national development contribution with an approved real estate alternative, allowing applicants to compare different financial commitments.
Grenada permits dual citizenship. Whether you can retain an existing nationality also depends on that country’s law. Citizenship does not automatically change tax residence or remove obligations where you already live, earn income or own assets.
Consider travel access destination by destination rather than relying on a passport ranking. For eligible UK visits, Grenadian nationals are listed under the electronic travel authorisation rules, subject to conditions and exemptions. Short-stay entry arrangements do not provide overseas residence or employment rights.

The EU–Grenada agreement allows Schengen visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. China has a separate 30-day exemption. Obtain UK ETA, eVisas and other authorisations before departure.
Some visas need a sponsor, invitation or specific entry point. For residence, work or a US E-2 visa, check the separate eligibility and application rules. Confirm destination and transit requirements before booking. Reviewed: 23 October 2026.

Who can apply for Grenada citizenship?
Review eligibility for every person in the application before selecting an investment or calculating the family budget.
The main applicant must satisfy the age, health, background and qualifying investment requirements.
Explain the source of the investment and fees with consistent banking, employment, business or other wealth records.
Disclose criminal, immigration and visa history accurately. Previous refusals or investigations require assessment before proceeding.
A spouse and qualifying dependent children may be included. Age, dependency and relationship evidence must meet the programme rules.
Eligible extended family members may apply with the main applicant. Their circumstances can alter both eligibility and the contribution.
Required applicants and relevant non-applicant parties attend an interview. Government screening and approval remain separate from the adviser’s initial review.
How the Grenada citizenship process works
Five stages from an initial family review to registration and passport processing. The government determines the outcome.
-
01
Assess your family and route
Review nationality, family members, background and funding. Compare contribution and property options with a complete quotation and confirm the authorised agent arrangements.
Step 1 Initial review -
02
Prepare a complete application
Gather the forms, medical and police records, translations and funding evidence. For real estate, review the approved project and purchase agreement.
Step 2 Preparation -
03
Submit and complete screening
The authorised local agent submits the file and handles official correspondence. Complete the mandatory interview and provide further evidence if requested.
Step 3 Government review -
04
Complete the qualifying payment
Following approval, make the contribution or complete the approved property investment according to the official instructions. Provide the required payment evidence.
Step 4 On approval -
05
Register citizenship and obtain passports
Citizenship registration follows the required payment checks. The authorised local agent then handles the passport application. Keep the family’s compliance and renewal records.
Step 5 Completion
Grenada citizenship and the US E-2 visa
Grenada is an E-2 treaty country. Its citizenship can form part of longer-term US business planning, but it does not itself grant a US visa, residence or a green card.
For a person who acquired the relevant nationality through financial investment and has not previously held E status, US law requires at least three continuous years of domicile in the treaty country at some point before the E visa application. Holding a Grenadian passport for three years alone does not satisfy that condition.
A separate substantial investment in a qualifying US enterprise and the other E-2 visa requirements must also be met. Have a US immigration specialist assess your proposed business, domicile history and family plans before treating E-2 eligibility as a reason to invest.
Budget beyond the minimum investment
Request an itemised family quotation covering government charges, professional support and any property-related expenses.
Additional contribution amounts depend on the number and category of family members. Do not assume that every four-person family qualifies at the base amount.
The published application fee is USD 1,500 per person. Processing is listed at USD 1,500 for those aged 17 or over and USD 500 for younger applicants.
Allow for due diligence, mandatory interview and passport charges. Obtain the current schedule for every applicant, sponsor and other relevant party before filing.
Include medicals, translations, legalisation, banking and professional fees. Property investors also need to consider acquisition, maintenance and exit expenses.
Is Grenada the right citizenship route for your family?
Compare the NTF and approved property routes with Capitals28. We can help organise an eligibility review, document preparation and an itemised family budget with the appropriate authorised agents.
Grenada citizenship: common questions
Investment amounts, family eligibility, application arrangements and the separate US E-2 conditions.
What is the minimum investment for Grenada citizenship?
The NTF contribution starts at USD 235,000. Qualifying approved property starts at USD 270,000, with a separate government contribution from USD 50,000. Other qualifying property arrangements carry a USD 350,000 threshold. Programme charges and professional or ownership expenses are additional.
Does USD 235,000 cover every family of four?
No. The base NTF amount can cover a qualifying family of up to four, but special charges apply to siblings and parents or grandparents aged 55 or under. Application, processing, screening, interview and passport costs also need to be included.
Can I include parents, children and siblings?
A spouse and qualifying children, parents, grandparents and siblings may be considered. Each person must meet the relevant age, relationship and dependency conditions. Confirm eligibility and the contribution for your exact family composition.
Can I purchase any property in Grenada?
No. Only a qualifying interest in an approved project counts towards this route. The published holding period is five years. Check the investment structure, contract, charges and permitted exit with the authorised agent and legal adviser before paying.
How long does the application take?
Plan in months, allowing for document preparation, screening, interviews and investment completion. Family circumstances and requests for more evidence can extend the process. Obtain a current case estimate; approval and passport delivery dates cannot be guaranteed.
Is an interview required?
Yes. Grenada has mandatory interviews for the main applicant, spouse, dependants aged 17 or over and relevant sponsors. The published rules also include non-applicant spouses and sponsors. Confirm attendance, language and fees for your file.
Must I visit or live in Grenada?
Confirm the current physical-presence, enrolment and passport conditions for your filing date with the authorised agent, including any new or transitional regional rules. Do not assume remote preparation removes every attendance obligation. The US E-2 domicile requirement is a separate US immigration condition.
Does a Grenada passport automatically qualify me for a US E-2 visa?
No. E-2 is a separate application involving a qualifying US business investment and other visa conditions. A person who obtained treaty nationality through financial investment and has not previously held E status must also satisfy the three-continuous-year domicile rule. Citizenship alone is insufficient.
Can I apply directly, and can I retain my current nationality?
Grenada applications follow the authorised marketing and local agent process rather than direct submission. Grenada allows dual citizenship, but you should also check your existing nationality’s law. Capitals28 can support preparation and coordination; the government decides the application.
