Financial resources, background checks, interview, biometrics and applicable residence conditions need to be assessed before filing.

A second nationality with a Caribbean connection
Saint Lucia combines an English-speaking national setting with a choice of four citizenship investment categories. For families considering a lasting connection to the Eastern Caribbean, the decision can be shaped around a contribution, a bond holding or an approved project.
Saint Lucia permits dual citizenship, subject also to the laws of your existing country of nationality. Citizenship and tax residence are separate: acquiring a passport does not automatically change the tax treatment of your income or assets.
Travel access must be assessed using current destination rules. The UK introduced a visa requirement for Saint Lucian nationals in March 2026; an ETA is not a substitute. A second passport does not itself confer residence or employment rights in another country.

The EU–Saint Lucia agreement allows Schengen visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Obtain eVisas and travel authorisations before departure.
The UK requires a visa from 5 March 2026; Ireland from 15 June 2026. Taiwan’s waiver has birthplace restrictions. Canada’s conditional air-travel eTA requires qualifying visa history and is excluded from this passport-only selection.
Entry depends on your documents, purpose and arrival point. These routes do not grant work or residence rights. Check destination and transit rules before booking. Reviewed: 23 October 2026.

Eligibility and family inclusion in Saint Lucia
Check each person’s relationship, age and financial dependency before calculating the investment and application fees.
The main applicant must meet the investment, background, health and disclosure requirements and document the lawful source of funds.
The 2026 regulations require a sworn affidavit declaring at least USD 350,000 in financial resources, supported by evidence. This is an eligibility requirement, not an extra government payment.
A spouse and children aged 21 or below may qualify. Children through age 30 may qualify where fully supported by the applicant.
A parent of the applicant or spouse above age 55 may qualify if fully supported. Provide evidence of the relationship and dependency.
An unmarried brother or sister of the main applicant below age 18 may qualify with the required parental or guardian consent.
The law also provides for fully supported individuals with qualifying disabilities, regardless of age. Legal, medical, dependency and care evidence must establish the case.
The Saint Lucia citizenship application process
Five stages with an authorised agent coordinating the application and the government deciding the outcome.
-
01
Assess the family and investment
Review eligibility, resources, background and priorities. Compare complete costs and confirm the authorised agent and current route availability.
Step 1 Initial review -
02
Prepare documents and commitments
Gather civil, health, financial and background records. Check the selected project, contract and payment requirements before committing funds.
Step 2 Preparation -
03
Submit and complete official checks
The authorised agent files the application. Complete the principal applicant interview and identity verification, and supply further information requested during screening.
Step 3 Government review -
04
Complete the route requirements
Follow the official decision and payment instructions. The timing of investment evidence and escrow payments depends on the route; built property requires payment evidence with the application.
Step 4 Route completion -
05
Registration, biometrics and passport
Complete the oath or affirmation, registration and required biometric arrangements. The passport application follows separately. Record any ongoing property and compliance deadlines.
Step 5 Completion
Plan for the requirements after approval
Application preparation can take place through an authorised agent, but a remote file does not remove all personal obligations. The 2025 amendment requires applicants and qualifying dependants to meet prescribed residence and genuine-link conditions from 1 January 2026. Confirm the applicable measures and attendance arrangements for your application rather than relying on older no-stay descriptions.
The 2026 regulations require successful applicants to provide biometric data. For built real estate, they also require steps to obtain title documents within 90 days after receiving the registration certificate, evidence of the acquired interest and a minimum five-year holding period after citizenship.
Keep the investment, registration and family records together. Before proceeding, ask the authorised agent to confirm the project approval, payment sequence, biometric arrangements and compliance deadlines in writing.
Fees beyond the qualifying investment
An itemised quotation should distinguish the investment, non-refundable government charges and professional or ownership expenses.
Ordinary processing is USD 2,000 for the main applicant and USD 1,000 per qualifying dependant where applicable. Approved development-property applications have a statutory exemption; the built-property category introduced in 2026 expressly requires processing fees.
The 2026 schedule sets USD 8,000 for the main applicant and USD 5,000 for each qualifying dependant over 16. Confirm age-specific screening and other charges with the agent.
Bonds carry USD 50,000 administration. Development property is USD 30,000 for one applicant or USD 45,000 with a spouse, with additional-dependant charges under the schedule. Built-property administration is USD 30,000. Enterprise fees follow the selected option.
Budget for interview and identity checks, biometrics, passports, medicals, translations, legalisation, banking and professional services. Property ownership creates separate acquisition and ongoing costs.

Saint Lucia citizenship: common questions
Practical answers about route costs, family eligibility, updated requirements and travel.
What is the minimum contribution for Saint Lucia citizenship?
The National Economic Fund contribution starts at USD 240,000 for the principal applicant and up to three qualifying dependants. Further dependants increase the contribution. Processing, due diligence and other charges are additional.
Are the USD 300,000 government bonds interest-bearing?
No. National Action Bonds pay no interest and must remain registered in the applicant’s name for five years from first issue. A separate USD 50,000 non-refundable administration fee and other programme charges apply. Review redemption terms before subscribing.
Does approved property start at USD 300,000 or USD 500,000?
These amounts refer to different categories. The published approved development route starts at USD 300,000. The approved built-property category introduced in 2026 starts at USD 500,000 for an approved apartment or villa. Both carry fees. The 2026 rules restrict new development project approval applications after 1 December 2025, so the specific project’s approval and availability must be verified.
Is the USD 350,000 financial resources requirement an extra fee?
No. It is a financial eligibility declaration supported by a sworn affidavit and evidence. It does not replace the qualifying contribution or investment, and is not an additional payment to the government.
Can I include my adult children, parents or siblings?
Children through age 30 may qualify if fully supported; children aged 21 or below have their own category. Parents of the applicant or spouse above 55 must be fully supported. An unmarried sibling of the principal applicant must be below 18 with the necessary consent. Separate provisions cover fully supported individuals with qualifying disabilities.
How long does a Saint Lucia application take?
Allow several months and obtain a current case estimate. Document readiness, screening, investment arrangements, official capacity and requests for more evidence can affect timing. Older 90-day descriptions should not be treated as a guaranteed end-to-end timetable.
Can the application be completed without any attendance requirements?
Do not assume so. Confirm interview, identity verification and biometric arrangements, together with the prescribed residence and genuine-link requirements applicable to the family. The updated legislation should be considered alongside the agent’s current operational guidance.
Can I travel to the UK with an ETA on a Saint Lucia passport?
Saint Lucian nationals are subject to the UK visa requirement introduced in March 2026. An ETA is not a substitute for the required visa. Check the current visit and transit rules, including any applicable exemption, before booking.
Can I apply directly and keep my current citizenship?
The application must be submitted through a licensed authorised agent. Saint Lucia allows dual citizenship, but retaining your current nationality also depends on its country’s law. Citizenship registration and the subsequent passport application are separate steps.
Do the same processing fees apply to both property categories?
No. The 2019 regulations exclude approved development-property applicants from ordinary processing fees. The 2026 built-property rules expressly require processing charges. Confirm the project’s legal category before calculating the family total.
