The UAE has introduced a major upgrade to its digital government ecosystem with the launch of Domestic Worker Services on the “Work in UAE” platform (workinuae.ae). Announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), the new system allows employers to issue, renew, or cancel residency visas for domestic workers and arrange mandatory medical tests through a single online portal.
The initiative is closely aligned with the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, which aims to streamline procedures and eliminate unnecessary paperwork. With the new integration, employers can now complete every step of the process—from uploading documents and signing contracts to issuing Emirates IDs and finalising residency visas—without visiting multiple government offices./
According to MoHRE, the launch reflects strong collaboration between federal and local authorities, including the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security; Emirates Health Services; the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority; and the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi. Officials emphasised that the upgraded system enhances customer experience by providing fast, unified services across government entities.
Khalil Ibrahim Khoori, Undersecretary of Labour Market and Emiratisation Operations at MoHRE, highlighted the platform’s success as a turning point for digital transformation. He noted that integrating domestic worker services into the Work Bundle demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to building a world-class digital government capable of delivering efficient and fully connected services.
The Work Bundle platform offers a standardised application form, a single payment system, and seamless data-sharing tools such as UAE PASS and the Government Services Bus. These features are expected to significantly reduce processing times, remove redundant steps, and reinforce the UAE’s long-term goal of creating a paperless, fully integrated digital service environment.
